Lassiter’s Lake
Richie is at DeadKate™’s gazebo, recording his video diary.
RICHIE: Oh, this is stupid… Right… Name – Richie Amblin, Year 11.
He consults the question sheet.
RICHIE: Where do you see yourself in ten years? More like, where does my dad see me in ten years! I’ll have a bachelor in engineering, and even a masters in business. I’ll be working, designing spring- loaded mattresses that can be delivered to your house in four hours! There’s a wealth of opportunity in solution- based startups, so… Yay.
Cue titles.
School storeroom
Yashvi asks Liv if she’s okay; it’s evident she’s spent the night in the cupboard.
YASHVI: What have you been eating and drinking, and how have you been…?
She asks Liv why she’s hiding out here. Liv begins to explain, but Yashvi cuts her off, saying people think she vanished because she ran into Finn. Liv leaps on this excuse, saying Finn scared her, being a ‘total psycho’. Yashvi sort of buys this, but says everyone’s really worried and looking for Liv. Liv can’t handle that right now.
LIV: I have to get out of here.
YASHVI: Yeah, okay, let’s go home.
LIV: No, no – my mum’ll be home, and she’ll be naffed* I missed my business exam.
YASHVI: I reckon she’d be pretty distracted by the fact that you’re alive!
But Liv says stepping outside would entail ‘a million questions I can’t deal with’, so asks for Yashvi’s help to get her out of here without being seen. Yashvi isn’t sure, as the cops are here – but gives Liv her hoodie as a disguise, and goes to check if the coast is clear.
School corridor
Hendrix shakes Ollie’s hand, and welcomes him aboard Operation Tank The Physics Exam.
OLLIE: Always keen to make Muggleton cry.
HENDRIX: Thanks, mate – you’re the best.
Around the corner, Hendrix runs into Richie, and tells him that Ollie’s in on the plan, which means everyone has they’re on board – with the exceptions of Richie himself, and Jeremiah, who they can see through the window in the classroom.
RICHIE: Yeah. Good luck with that.
Richie walks off, just as Jeremiah walks into the corridor. Hendrix tries to convince him to flunk the exam, but Jeremiah does not seem keen.
HENDRIX: I’m totally vibing thing energy between us. It’s like, I’m Peter Parker, and you’re Miles.
JEREMIAH: Ah, nice – the comic book reference to sway the nerd.
HENDRIX: Just say you’ll think about it, yeah?
JEREMIAH: …
HENDRIX: I’ll take that as a maybe. Thank you, oh, Ghost who walks.
JEREMIAH: Do you know what you’re accidentally quoting?
HENDRIX: Phantom. You’re not the only comic book fan in school. I just make it look good.
No 30
Yashvi welcomes Liv to the house; there’s no- one here now, but she says Dipi, Shane, Kirsha and Toadie will all soon be back.
YASHVI: Zero privacy, endless opinions, and Mum and Dad seem to forget that their room isn’t soundproof.
Yashvi offers Liv the opportunity of a shower and change of clothes; she’s keen. But the condition is Liv calls her mum and Susan, and tells them to call off the search for her.
LIV: I’ll do it later.
YASHVI: They deserve to know you’re not lying in a ditch. Look, I get it – you’re freaked out. But you’re being a bit selfish (…) You don’t have to tell them where you are. You don’t even have to go home. Just… I saw your mum last night. She deserves to know you’re okay.
Miss Reyner’s office
Miss Reyner tells Richie she’s impressed with his recent grades; it’s looking good for him as he’s about to enter Year 12.
RICHIE: Yeah, well, tell my dad that.
MISS REYNER: I did. He checks in with the teachers to make sure that you’re focused.
Richie’s embarrassed by this, but Miss Reyner tells him she knows what it’s like to manage parental expectations, recalling how she didn’t see eye- to- eye with her own mum and dad.
MISS REYNER: It can be hard when you can’t fully be yourself at home.
RICHIE: … It’s not that bad.
Richie gets a text from Mackenzie, offering to be his physics study buddy. He rushes to leave, keen to take her up on it. Miss Reyner asks if the text was from Olivia, as she knows he used to be close to her – but Richie assures her it wasn’t Liv.
MISS REYNER: Do you still talk?
RICHIE: Sometimes. I shouldn’t, though. When I talk to girls, it doesn’t end well.
MISS REYNER: What?
RICHIE: Nothing, I gotta go.
Richie rushes off.

Yashvi listens in as Liv talks to her mum on the phone. Liv says she’s okay, but not ready to come home yet. She asks her mum not to push her.
There’s a knock at the door, and Yashvi tells Liv to stay out of sight. It’s Finn, who’s come to see Toadie.
YASHVI: Yeah, he’s not here, sorry – bye.
She closes the door before Finn can say anymore!
LIV: Was that Finn Kelly? (…) So weird how he just drops by like he’s a friend of the fam.
Liv then gets a text from her mum asking her, ‘what about your exams?’ She tells Yashvi that Susan’s reaction was just as bad.
YASHVI: I thought you’d be more freaked out, considering Finn was the reason you ran away.
LIV: … I guess I’m just overwhelmed. Mum on the warpath and all.
YASHVI: Or is something else going on?
LIV: … I might grab that shower.
Liv heads to the bathroom, leaving her phone on the table – as Angela sends her another text, saying ‘please stay safe and come home soon’. Yashvi can’t resist looking at the second message that pops up, from Liv’s sister Lacy, asking where she is. Then, an encrypted, anonymous message comes through, saying, ‘Please come back. We can still be together. Trust me,’ followed by a heart emoji.
Yashvi looks worried.
School corridor
Hendrix is updating Ollie and his hoons on the exam- flunking operation. He tells them he’ll have convinced everyone to take part within the hour. Ollie remarks that he bets the girls got on board easily.
HENDRIX: You know it. All they needed was a cheeky compliment.
Jeremiah has been listening in, but turns the corner when Ollie sees him. Ollie and some of his mates follow Jeremiah around the corner, where he’s at his locker.
OLLIE: Oh, will you look at that? A haunted locker, open all by itself. Almost caught myself a ghost there, boys!
He slams the locker shut.
OLLIE: Reckon I should put that in my video diary, huh? Gonna be a ghost hunter when I grow up.
Jeremiah tries to walk away, but Ollie stops him. He tells Jeremiah that next year, they’ll both still be here, and Ollie will be doing some ‘haunting of his own’. He shouts ‘boo’ loudly, causing Jeremiah to drop his school stuff. Jeremiah picks his things up, then walks away silently as Olly and his gang laugh at him.
Erinsborough Greenway
Jeremiah is sitting on a bench, crying, and preparing to film for his video diary. He consults the question sheet.
JEREMIAH: What are your hopes and dreams? … I hope that every day stops feeling like torture. I mean, it has to, right?

Yashvi is still on the sofa when Liv’s phone goes off again. It’s another message from the anonymous person, saying, ‘Tell me where to come meet you xx’. Liv emerges from the bathroom in one of Yashvi’s uniforms, saying she feels way more human – and might even do her literature exam this afternoon. She thanks Yashvi for the uniform. Yashvi says she’s glad to be rid of it.
YASHVI: I scored so many weird looks when I was dating Ned. Some people didn’t like the age gap.
LIV: That sucks.
YASHVI: How about you? Are you dating anyone?
LIV: Did you read my messages?
YASHVI: No. I mean, only the new ones, but I didn’t want to read them –
LIV: So you just happened to mention your age gap then?
YASHVI: No, I was talking about me and Ned. What are you talking about?
LIV: Nothing.
YASHVI: Liv, all I’m trying to do is help. Break- ups are really hard –
LIV: I haven’t broken up with anyone.
YASHVI: Okay. But I’m right, aren’t I – this isn’t about Finn? Why were you in the storeroom? Did you have a fight with who you were with?
LIV: I can’t talk about it.
YASHVI: Are you with Richie? Cos he’s a year younger, and Mackenzie said that –
LIV: No!
YASHVI: Then, who?
LIV: Someone I can’t be with. Someone I shouldn’t be talking about.
Yashvi probes for further answers, but Liv clams up and rushes out of the house. Yashvi looks worried.
Classroom
Richie is studying for his physics test, when Hendrix comes in and tries to persuade him to flunk the exam again. Richie’s still not that keen, and asks if Hendrix is sure they’d get to resit if the whole class failed.
HENDRIX: Have I ever led you astray?
RICHIE: This is serious! If we do this and it backfires, my dad will not be happy.
HENDRIX: Have some faith, alright? Clock’s ticking, my friend. Gotta make a decision soon.
Hendrix walks out again, just as Mackenzie comes in to help him study. Richie stands up, suddenly all awkward, and conversation quickly stalls. Mackenzie asks if Hendrix is still pursuing his ‘ridiculous plan’ to tank the exam. Richie admits that a week’s more study would really help, and that he’s thinking of going with Hendrix’s plan. Mackenzie is visibly disappointed in him.
RICHIE: It’s just… stressful. With Liv missing, and –
But Mackenzie cuts him off, telling him not to worry about their study session, and walks out. Richie looks frustrated.
The Pavilion
Mackenzie is ranting in her video diary!
MACKENZIE: Boys are so weird! No- one’s perfect; I get that. But if it wasn’t bad enough Richie still being weird about Olivia, now he’s probably gonna do Hendrix’s stupid exam tank! I don’t know why – he stood up for me when that bathroom protest happened, so he can obviously think for himself. But now he’s just gonna follow Hendrix! … If I let myself like that sort of person – a person who follows others for no good reason – then what does that say about me?
Lassiter’s Lake
Richie is also video- diarising, at the gazebo.
RICHIE: My dad came from nothing. He worked hard; he was the first in his family to go to uni. He studied hard, got a good job. So why wouldn’t I follow in his footsteps? I mean, he’s given me the blueprint for success. Do engineering and you’ll never be out of work. I don’t think he’s ever actually asked me what I want… I sound like such a brat. He’s great, really – he just expects a lot. And I wish I knew what I wanted to do – so I could tell him to back off and let me be. Like Mackenzie would. She’s not afraid of anything… Look, if I join the tank, and the tank works, I’ll have time to cram, and I’ll ace the resit, and Dad will be stoked. But if I help get Muggleton shafted, Mackenzie… she will not be happy.
School corridor
Yashvi has come back into school, and Ollie jokes that it’s because of his irresistible magnetism. Unimpressed, Yashvi asks Ollie if Liv showed up for her literature exam. Ollie reminds her that Liv is missing, accusing Yashvi of being slow – and jokes that maybe Yashvi should repeat again.
YASHVI: Unhelpful and unfunny. At least you’re always consistent, Ollie.
Yashvi walks off in a hurry.
Meanwhile, an agitated Mr Muggleton is on his mobile phone to someone. He tells them to wait right there; he’s coming now, and will be five minutes.
Common room
Richie comes in to talk to Hendrix, telling him he’s in for the exam tank. But he asks an excited Hendrix to keep this low- key, and reminds him he still needs to convince ‘the Ghost’. Jeremiah himself then appears at the door, ‘out of thin air’, Hendrix quips.
JEREMIAH: I’m in, too.
HENDRIX: Oh, ladies and gentlemen, we have ourselves a tank!
Hendrix hugs Richie excitedly, and declares this is going to be good!
Lassiter’s Park
Hendrix is fussing with his hair and trying to frame himself in the best light, before starting his latest video diary entry. He consults the question sheet.
HENDRIX: What do I want to be when I grow up? Err, let’s see – me! Maybe I’ll start with being CEO, and then move onto being PM. I’ll have my own season of Bachelor set in The Lodge. Keep it fun and fresh. And at some point, I’ll have to write a memoir – share my wisdom. You know how it is. And this tank – this tank will be chapter one. How Hendrix Greyson became a legend!
Inordinately excited, he starts dancing and singing a little song!
HENDRIX (singing): Hendrix is a legend – I’m a legend, I’m a legend!
Then he leaps on the table as a finale to his dance! He consults the question sheet again.
HENDRIX: What are your weaknesses? … Weaknesses?! I’ve never met him!
Harold’s Café
Hendrix is picking up some takeaway, when Mackenzie confronts him over his plan to take down Mr Muggleton.
HENDRIX: You’re welcome.
MACKENZIE: I’m not thanking you. And I don’t think you should do it.
HENDRIX: Well, you’re the only one. Have fun on that solo cruise.
MACKENZIE: You haven’t thought it through.
HENDRIX: No, I’ve got it covered. From every angle.
MACKENZIE: Including the angle where it’s traced back to you?
HENDRIX: It’s not gonna happen.
MACKENZIE: You’re the only person with enough swagger to try and pull this off. So Mrs Kennedy will see it from a mile away, and the whole thing will blow up. For everyone.
HENDRIX: I’ll take the risk. I’ve been in trouble for way worse, anyway.
MACKENZIE: I’ve got a better idea.
HENDRIX: If you’re about to say –
MACKENZIE: Just do the exam.
HENDRIX (laughs): Old goodie- goodie Mackenzie. We can always count on you to do the right thing, can’t we?
MACKENZIE: Well, I certainly wouldn’t try and ruin a man’s life for my own enjoyment.
HENDRIX: I’m doing it for *everyone’s* enjoyment.
MACKENZIE: Look, I know this is about your dad.
HENDRIX: What are you talking about?
MACKENZIE: Harlow told me he’s engaged. My guess is that you’re doing it because you’re not getting enough attention at home.
Hendrix’s swagger turns to anger.
HENDRIX: Save your psycho bull for your own therapy sessions, yeah?
MACKENZIE: Right. And you’ll just keep up the façade so no- one will realise how deeply unhappy you are.
Rattled, Hendrix says no more, and walks out.
Power Road
Yashvi is outside The 82, when she spots Olivia sitting at the bus stop across the road. As she watches, a car pulls up by the bus stop. Liv briefly talks to the driver, then gets in the passenger seat. Yashvi watches curiously as the car drives past her. In the driver’s seat next to Liv is Mr Muggleton…
